Our amazing K9s are the life blood of our work. They are our partners, friends and family.
Our Scent Specific K9s are professionally trained to recover children and adults using the quickest route to the victim. We do not use technique based protocols which focus a scent dogs training on method and technique as found in Search and Rescue and law enforcement. Our natural dog focused system and recovery process has proven successful when others have failed. In addition, our dogs regularly work and train on human scent trails that are several months old.
Like most of the dogs on our K9 TEAM, York is a rescue dog. He came to us from a high kill shelter in Oklahoma where he was scheduled to be euthanized due to testing positive for tick fever and having an injury.
We could see the drive, determination and heart within the young injured dog. He joined our K9 team and has been a leader in our pack ever since.
He is skilled and efficient, having found several missing family members when other search dogs and techniques had failed.
Missing 16 days...
Law enforcement, search parties and volunteer K9 handlers had all been tasked to help find the young missing man in the preceding weeks. On the 16th day, K9 York quickly brought closure to the family.
Jett is the team's canine Einstein. This intellectual Feist from Tennessee, leads the team with multiple disciplines and skill sets. Reliable and honest, Jett understands the investigative process and communicates information through barks and alerts. It is amazing to watch this high drive dog work and decipher a case.
And he is correct. What looks like a ball under the log is actually a human body part.
He tracks the subject from the witness sighting.
Bear came to us as a former client. The two year old Catahoula/Aussie mix went missing from a rescue. After two week on the lam, he was recovered. The rescue asked us if we would like to adopt him so we traveled to Grand Island to test him. Needless to say the young dog performed a perfect test under extremely hot conditions and he joined the team that day.
Bear specializes in air scent work. He does track but, like Jett above, he can locate a trail from a distance and follow it to recovery or the trails end. This skill is particularly helpful when it is unknown where the missing subject was last seen.
K9 Dutch is a working machine. The three year old Belgian Malinois waits at the door every day expecting his call to work.
He loves scent work and tracking with a specialty in tracking missing people. He is adept at tracking as well as air scent work.
He is a key member of our team and is a joy to work with.
Travis is the youngster of the team. Like all the dogs on our team, he was tested prior to joining the team. From the first moment we presented the scent article to him, the young dog understood the game.
He is a friendly, high drive individual, who is gathering experience for missing person searches.
K9 Beck is perhaps the dog on the team that gets the most notice. He is all of ten pounds but what he lacks in size he more than makes up for in drive. He is very serious about his work.
Beck's specialty is close or tight work as well as scent scans in difficult areas. He is small and very close to the ground so his "close work stature" is very helpful when we are trying to decipher what happens on a case when the scent just ends.
Beck is frequently underestimated until he jumps into his harness and begins to work.
